The 30-ribbon rack directly above was my very first ribbon rack project for a retired Chief. Since then I’ve made over a hundred using this style of of stitches for the ribbons. But then I was presented with a challenge and I was forced to change my technique to fit the task at hand. So I started to redigitize my 100+ ribbon file and the results are outstanding.
This is a picture of a rack using my new technique and I think it is a much more realistic looking ribbon rack.
Practically all of the ribbon racks I make are for motorcycle riders to sew on their jackets. That’s why I put the black border around the ribbons so you can sew through the border and not degrade the ribbons.
I’ve done WWII, Korea, Vietnam and current ribbons as well as Canadian ribbons. Funny thing though is I have yet to make my own ribbon rack — 26 years flying for the AF in the RC-135. One of these days.
I can build your rack from either a list or picture. I’ll send you a digital proof of your rack before I put it into production.
The cost is $4 per ribbon and that includes all devices. If you have a special project in mind please contact me at myfinishingtouch@gmail.com.
You can either PayPal us $4/ribbon +$1 shipping at our email address and send us the ribbons you need or call us at 318-219-7868 with your credit card information.
Just finished a ribbon rack for a customer. Normal ribbons are 1 1/3″ wide. I’ve done a few racks with ribbons 1″ wide but the ribbons on the tiny rack are only 11/16″ wide. I was surprised it turned out as well as it did at this size 🙂
I normally put a black border but the ribbon rack can have most any color border and can include your wings/badges.
